The Youngstown Vindicator says family spokeswoman texted the 73-year-old former congressman’s demise at the St. Elizabeth Health Center.

Traficant had been listed in “very critical condition” since a tractor he was driving at his Greenford farm rolled over backward onto him.

Outspoken, colorful, and outrageous, Traficant served more than 17 years in Congress as a Democratic Representative until July 2002. He became only the second member of Congress to be expelled since the Civil War, after a federal jury convicted him on 10 felony counts that included bribery, tax evasion, and racketeering.

Stay tuned to 90.3 for more details.
